Ebert Farms Newsletter
January 25, 2007
There is so much happening at the farm. Since I last had a chance to send out an update, Vanessa, Veronica, Umber and Vergie have all had calves. We have added 247 chickens from Guidestone’s flock of layers to our farm. Kres purchased a new “tool” from the neighbors. We are now able to check cows with a 1970s model “El Tigre” snowmobile.
We have almost all of our products in stock at the moment. Cheddar and Swiss cheese are available again. We have many jars of colostrum. WE HAVE EGGS!!! We even almost have enough cream for everyone again.
We seem to be having a jar shortage again. We’ve opened 30 cases of new jars in two weeks. If you are stockpiling them, please return them! Also, another friendly reminder that we request that everyone brings their jars back clean. Any milk left on the jars has to be hand washed before we can sanitize them in our dishwasher. Please pay special attention to the top of the jar where the lid screws on. This is where we find the most dry milk. Also, please reserve your milk jars for milk only. Leftover residue from other items can make milk taste “off.”
It seems that snow is in the forecast again. The snow is piled so high on the sides of our driveway it extends higher than the top of the pickup. We’re thankful it’s been melting some this week. We know all this snow will mean a beautiful spring and we can’t wait!
Be SAFE and, also, stay warm and dry!
